half-hull model technique is a centuries old tradition and was the forerunner
of naval architecture.
end of the 18th Century it was customary for shipwrights to fashion
a half-hull model of a ship prior to building, to study the hull form
before a complete set of plans was drawn up.
were not only functional but were also used to adorn the walls of shipyard
offices and the boardrooms of shipowners.
shaping a half-hull was a familiar sight in the seaport towns in the
days of old, and today I am carrying on this traditional practice by
hand crafting hulls of yachts and sailing vessels of a bygone era as
well as those of modern design.
